Marine Barge Cranes: Worked on preliminary specifications of controls for 6000 ton cranes controlled by AC to DC power conversion equipment. Two 6000 ton cranes were specified to be mounted on a floating barge for use in the North Sea.
Log Handling Machinery: Worked on power conversion of Log Stackers capable of handling 30 ton loads. Conversion constisted of replacing DC power generation and control equipment with AC generators and AC to DC power conversion equipment and controls.
Power Factor Correction: Recommended and wrote specifications on a 4000 KVAR output synchronous condenser installed on the 17 megawatt power system of the SEMAC pipe laying barge used in the North Sea. Worked on selection, procurement and testing of the complete system at the manufacturer's test facility and on board the pipe laying barge.
